Working Out Without Stretch Marks

Image
I find that some of you may have stopped working out because you developed stretch marks. This happens for guys around the shoulders and armpits but they also appear on the biceps and thighs.  Firstly, what causes stretch marks? As the name implies, “stretch marks” because the skin got stretched beyond its elastic limit. Anything that could stretch the skin beyond its elastic limit causes stretch marks. Examples are increase in body mass due to fat, pregnancy or bodybuilding. Unfortunately, stretch marks are almost permanent. Almost, because there are several claims on how this could be fixed but the most show little or no results.  The best way to tackle stretch marks is preventing them. Some will find that they already had stretch marks in certain areas even before working out regularly. This is due to mass gain or loss as a result of your daily routine or diet habits.  For those on the bigger side, working out to lose weight will not result in stretch marks. Rather, you may develop

Seven Steps On Taking Selfies

Image
W hy should you care about this post? Social media of course. If you are reading this then you probably care so don't judge yourself for being vain. Selfies used to be a thing for girls but more guys now have to take selfies especially because sometimes your lady would want to take one with  you.  Another reason why you'd probably care about taking selfies is if you are hunting on social media. Yes, social media hook ups have lead to marriages and you really need to give a good first impression if you want guys sliding in or if you want girls responding.  Thirdly, you may want this for business, if you are a model or the face of your brand. You will have to attract customers with good selfies. Here are a few tips to take the best selfies: Improve your facial features by working out.   See:  Four Proven Ways To Burn Facial Fat.  Get a good device for selfies. Apple and Samsung phones lead in this venture. But remember, it's not about the camera but about your photographic ski

Four Proven Ways To Burn Facial Fat.

Image
Do you know there are over twenty facial muscles that have different functions? They come to life when we make facial expressions like smiling or frowning. Have you been told as a kid that frowning all the time would make you ugly?  Have you seen before and after photos of people who now hit the gym on a regular? Did you observe any changes in their facial features? It's almost as if they are more beautiful/handsome. The question is, does working out improve your facial features? If you have an issue with facial fat, this article is for you. There are some who feel they would rather burn facial fat but have their body stay same. This is almost impossible in fitness but you have an advantage because the body prioritizes fat loss from the top down, which means you are going to lose your facial fat before other parts of the body. While this might be a feminine issue, there are guys who may want profound jawlines. If you have fat covering your jaw lines and want that defined facial featu

Gym Safety

Image
I had written this article and it was set for publishing before a friend sent me a video of his deadlift workout. He did his deadlifts wrongly which resulted in lower back injury (spine) and is now awaiting X-ray results so we can know the extent of damage done. I have placed a link to my YouTube channel where you would find a video on deadlifts workout. I elaborated on his wrong doings and demonstrated  the right move.     It became obvious to me that this article is indeed indispensable. I've always known that beginners react differently to workout, especially in terms of pain, but sometimes there are things they do wrongly that might result in severe muscular injury.  As a beginner you may want to consider gym safety, a subject that's broader than it seems.  An important part of gym safety is "PPE" i.e personal protective equipment which includes your gym wear, a glove, footwear and sometimes belt.  See:Gym: Fashion,Time and Place  The nature of your stomach is als

Learn To Write : Agava's Approach.

Image
There's a reason why my writing can be read and understood by most people, it's simply because I have read posts that people have written and didn't understand any bit. Why bother writing if you aren't communicating? Writing isn't a talent, it's something you learn to do. Why? Because at first you learnt to write a letter, so how can writing be a talent? It's like saying reading is a talent. What makes a good writer is approach and mind wealth. If your mind is rich, you write better. Your skills have to be well developed  or you wouldn't get the  message out. You'd be so often misunderstood.  I have had a hard time calling myself a writer because I don't have a published book. I learnt from Shonda Rhimes on Master Class that there's no such thing as an aspiring writer, there's just a writer. Which is to say a writer is anyone who writes, published or unpublished.  This makes me remember my previous article about the things I have learnt s

Gym: Fashion, Place and Time

Image
You'd probably be wondering if it's a worthy subject. What should you wear to the gym? When should you go to the gym? Should you use an indoor gym or work outdoors? I think it's a worthy subject.  Workout Time You can workout at anytime. I remember working out at the front porch last year when one of the neighbours saw me and thought this was torture, since it was passed noon. Well, mid-day workout isn't fun even with air conditioning but that doesn't mean mid-day workout is a waste. If you've been skipping sessions, perhaps you have no choice but workout at mid-day.  However, the timing of your workout isn't so much about the weather as it is about the nature of your stomach. It's much better working out when you are on an empty stomach making the morning hours the best time to workout just before breakfast or the evening before dinner which should be taken between 6 to 8pm. Lately, I've been advocating for fast circles for my clients and readers. Y

Burn Belly Fat Fast

Image
Women of all cultures have three problem areas: belly fat, flabby arms and broad shoulders. Belly fat is not isolated to women only, men deal with this issue but aren't as concerned as their female counterparts. I have categorised belly fat into three problem areas: upper abdomen, lower abdomen and side fat.  This article is focused on building the lower abdomen but there are some programs shown here that would help the obliques as they are generally core workout so they in fact build the upper abdomen.  This article is specially designed for people who have lower belly fat or love handles (side fat) but not necessarily upper belly fat. Yes, this happens when you have achieved some level of fitness and may have what they call “four pack” but certainly the goal is to have a “six pack” or “v-line”. At this stage some people quite and give up because it gets a bit challenging from here as you tend to work harder without seeing results. There are three reasons why this may be happening:

Six Things I've Learnt Since I Started Blogging

Image
I'm not famous yet so I wouldn't say I know it all.  However, daily experiences and a few biographies can teach us one or two things about chasing a dream and being recognized for it.  I am grateful to those who have supported me and have taught me what I know now, and for those I am constantly learning from.  The things I have learnt would be helpful to those who pursue a career that may have their personal lives put under a spotlight of scrutiny. Generally, the following suggestions should be helpful as you chase your dreams even though it might not exactly be in media or the likes because eventually, successful people get recognized for what they do. The rules I have suggested here affects contemporaries because we live in an age where the most, want one form of recognition or the other. This shouldn't be fought off as everyone wants that feeling of self worth as Dale Carnegie had written in his book “How To Win Friends And Influence People”.  I'm sure you didn'

Combat Fat with Fast Circles (CFFC)

Image
There are some things successful people do instinctively and eventually get to teach others as lessons. Hello, Here's something I did instinctively and I only realized now that it's a thing.  I recently stumbled upon a famous fitness youtuber who suggested fast circle as a tool to burn fat especially in the abdominal area.  Some of my followers have contacted me on lower abdominal fat issues and I intend writing an article on that, maybe a video too. The issue about lower abdominal fat is that your body prioritizes fat loss firstly to the upper body before lower body but that's a subject I’d tackle on another day.  Recently, I started suggesting fast circles to my clients not because a famous youtuber said it but because I have done it instinctively myself although I wasn't pragmatic about it since to me it wasn't a thing.  What is a fast circle? A Fast circle is a time within 24 hours of the day where you stay without food. The idea is to eat when you are mostly ac

Riding On The High Horse of Privilege

Saroo didn't find his brother that night after waking up on that bench at the train station. At the age of six or seven, I doubt he knew what he had gotten into when he entered that empty carriage. We know how much of a child he was when even after a “thousand miles” he still hoped to find Gudu.  As I watched the story of this young boy I began to feel guilty, perhaps some of the kids who beg on the streets are just missing like Saroo was. Maybe not the “Lebanese” as we often think they are and we do see their parents hauling at them sometimes and I'm damn sure they aren't missing, maybe just unfortunate.  Saroo met a “good” stranger who fed him for a day or two but his instincts pushed him back to the streets were he survived a few more days. How could a seven year old do this? Firstly, Saroo could run since he  and Gudu had to steal charcoal blocks, they would sell them off to get two sachets of milk which they would have for dinner with mum and their little sister.  Saro

Muscle Memory with Anita Ejiofor M. D

Image
I am dedicating this article to Deji since he coined the phrase “muscle memory “ during the course of our discussion after he read my article on  body types  . Deji had recently returned to the gym after a five year hiatus, according to him, his gym mates were  quit suspicious about his massive and almost immediate gains since returning. He had thought perhaps genetics and the fact that he is predominantly a Mesomorph might have contributed to this.  After reading my article, he decided he was going to share it with his mates so they would understand why he was gaining faster than they did.  However, Deji had mentioned “muscle memory” as a reason for such gains since he had used a gym 5 years ago, although he didn't follow any routine per say or had a trainer to guide him. The question is? Is a month’s worth of work enough for muscle memory?  I have a friend who thinks he is naturally predisposed to growing muscles, he says “it runs in the family”. But apart from being a mesomorph,

How To Do Bicep and Tricep Curls Right: Agava's Secret Formula

Image
I recently saw a guy at the gym doing some “biceps curls”. It was itchy to my eyes and I was going back and forth in my head as to whether correcting him was the right thing to do or just minding my business. I had wondered why no one else at the gym had bothered to correct him, could it be that I alone had seen this error? I eventually decided to mind my business but I do regret that knowing that this guy may have spent months and of course money but haven't seen any concrete results.  I have always been the self absorbed guy at the gym who just focused on his workout, I mean in my hay days though, when I found my footing. Once in a while I try to teach people I meet especially those who walk up to me. Some have done this when I do my bicep or tricep curls, testimonies are: “I make them want to do curls, my curls are fascinating”. In a way, fate has designed a three subject experiment on my bicep/tricep  curls with three people at different levels of fitness.  A Sixteen year old e
